What is a Japanese head spa?
A Japanese head spa is a relaxing scalp session combining deep cleansing, head and scalp massage, nourishing hair care, and often shoulder/neck massage. At Flamingo House Spa in Nanaimo we offer four head spa tiers ranging from a 30-minute Scalp Refresh Express ($50) up to our 90-minute signature Royal Roots Experience ($110). What is included in the Royal Roots Experience?
The 90-minute Royal Roots Experience includes aromatherapy, luxurious shoulder & neck massage, facial care & massage, premium scalp care, deep head massage, arms & hands massage, upper back massage, calves & feet massage with hot stones, and a blast hair blow-dry. It costs $110 CAD.
What other services do you offer besides head spa?
We also offer hot stone massage (45/60/75 min, $85–$120), full-body relaxation massage (45/60 min, $85–$100), back facial massage ($90), lash lift & tint ($100), brow lamination & tint ($100), manicures & pedicures with gel polish included (from $40), and waxing services starting at $10.
Do you offer head spa for couples?
Yes, we offer a 2-person head spa service perfect for couples, friends, or family. A 20% deposit is required to secure a couple service appointment.
Do you offer manicures and pedicures?
Yes. We offer an Express Manicure ($40), Express Pedicure ($50), and Deluxe Pedicure ($70) with hot stone foot massage and warm paraffin wax. Gel polish in your choice of colour is included with every nail service.
Is gel polish included?
Yes, gel polish is included with every manicure and pedicure at no extra charge. You choose your colour from our curated collection at your appointment.
Do you serve men?
Yes, head spa sessions are equally welcoming for all genders and hair types.
Do you offer therapeutic or RMT massage?
No, Flamingo House Spa offers relaxation spa massage only. We are not Registered Massage Therapists (RMT), so we don't provide therapeutic or clinical massage. If you require therapeutic massage for an injury or medical condition, please book with a licensed RMT in Nanaimo.

How do I book an appointment?
You can book by submitting the form on our Contact page, calling or texting 778-855-2256, or messaging us on Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. We typically respond within 1 hour during business hours.
How much does a head spa cost in Nanaimo?
At Flamingo House Spa, head spa sessions range from $50 (30-minute Scalp Refresh Express) to $110 (90-minute Royal Roots Experience).
Do you accept walk-ins?
No, Flamingo House Spa is by appointment only.
Do you require a deposit?
A 20% deposit is required to secure couple service appointments. Single-person appointments do not require a deposit.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations more than 24 hours in advance are free. Cancellations within 24 hours incur a 20% service fee. No-shows are charged 100% of the service fee.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, debit, and major credit cards. Gift certificates are also accepted.
Preparation & what to expect
What should I wear to my head spa appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing. We provide a robe and towel for sessions that involve shoulder, back, or full-body work. Your hair will be washed during head spa sessions, so come with any hairstyle.
Should I wash my hair before coming?
No, please come with normal day-to-day hair. We will deeply cleanse it as part of every head spa session.
How often should I get a head spa?
For ongoing relaxation, once a month is ideal. Some guests come weekly or bi-weekly when life gets busy, then back to monthly.
Can I get a head spa if I'm pregnant?
Yes, please let us know when booking so we can adjust positioning and pressure for your comfort.

Do you offer gift cards?
Yes. Gift certificates are available as digital or physical certificates for any service or dollar amount, valid for one year from purchase. Contact us at 778-855-2256 to purchase.
